Brown Sugar Babes

The power is in intersectionality.

The Brown Sugar Collective emerged from a conversation between its co-founders regarding the need for organizations that promote black creatives. We met in highschool and as we entered the next phases of our lives, we realized we were far stronger working together than apart. As young black women, there are a lot of narratives floating in our society that try and portray us in a negative light. Rather than feed these stories, we decided to find the beauty in the combination that is being black and being women. "Brown Sugar" represents just that-- the power of intersectionality combined with creativity.
